Hyderabad — November 22: The activist turned Chancellor and grandnephew of Maulana Azad, Firoz Bakht Ahmed, on the eve of the university’s 7^th Convention, in the letter to the registrar for boycotting the function, has claimed that MANUU today has turned into a den of corruption and unabated cases of sexual abuse of girl student. Stating that he would never wish to be clubbed with the desecrators and destroyers of the sacred institution created in the name of a visionary, educationist and statesman — Maulana Azad —  Ahmed added, “there is no question of my being present at the MANUU Convocation for the stamp of approval on all their misdeeds and it is for the chief guest and others to ponder over and take a decision!”

In the letter, Bakht has asked the registrar being the custodian of the records of the institution, to provide him with a certified copy of the of the his dissent recorded in the MANUU records/ chronicles (if any maintained by him). Bakht adds that in case the V-C gives the direction that this should not be recorded, then the certified copy of that refusal should also be communicated to him to be sent via email as well Indian postal system:

This is what the Chancellor has written: “I, Firoz Bakht Ahmed, Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), have boycotted the Convention 2018 on account of umpteen unresolved cases/ controversies of heinous and horrendous injustice, including — sexual abuse of girl students (as complained about Prof Ehtesham Ahmad Khan of Center for Media Journalism, Prof Abul Kalam of Urdu faculty and that of the MANUTA President, Malik Rehan Khan, faculty of Sociology — all sexual predators as per written evidence), irregularities in appointments (the V-C appointing his near and dear ones), embezzlement of funds in all sorts of expenditures (as that of 7 crore in the wi-fi scam with no recovery till date), admissions, inexplicable expulsions and exterminations of the students, teachers and kramacharis (class 4 workers), ambience of fear psychosis and fascism, making the people phobic, absolute absence of accountability and probity in administrative matters (as per the clarifications sought by me) and the annihilation of all norms and traditions by prohibiting the entry of the Chancellor to be in the campus for reforms besides the threats of non-cooperation in all walks of the University life (whereas the V-C, a national and globe-trotter under the garb of “educational visits” has no pain for the unnecessary expenditure meant to help the poor students).

The University has become a fiefdom of the V-C and his cronies. These people are eating into the entrails of this institution of pristine glory in the name of Bharat Ratna, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education and one of the most devoted freedom fighters. Sitting amidst the sexual predators and wheelers and dealers of this University during the Convention, would not only demean me but also tarnish my credibility of a community worker and activist.”
